Enhancing Quality of Lives Worldwide

Behavioral health and its fluctuating status affect the overall health and wellness of a person. The effect that any behavioral health issues have on chronic or acute diseases is daunting. Screening, monitoring and treating patients with behavioral health issues will, therefore, create an outsized impact on their well-being. Leading healthcare systems nationwide are using Tridiuum to address behavioral health and improve the well-being of their patients.

Tridiuum began formally (under a different name) in 2001 largely as a research think tank focused on building technology to support the therapeutic practice of feedback-informed care (FIC), whereby behavioral health clinicians could leverage support feedback to calibrate the approach of intervention and, finally, quantify outcomes in this important area. From a desktop application in 2001 to today’s cloud-based Tridiuum1 platform architecture and iOS-based patient experience, the company has grown from 300,000 patient interactions to more than 1.1 million in 2017 alone.

" The idea is to provide a supportive environment for people to get better and improve with respect to not only their behavioral health, but also their overall health and well-being "

The beauty of Tridiuum's technology platform is twofold: First, Tridiuum’s web-based assessment process encourages patients to openly and honestly share details of their conditions. Given this feedback, providers can more accurately evaluate and treat them. Second, Tridiuum can seamlessly integrate with most health organizations’ IT systems and electronic health records (EHRs). In fact, updates to a patient’s records are made in less than 30 seconds.

This allows for the key stakeholders involved in the patient’s care to collaborate on their conditions. With Tridiuum, providers can even compare behavioral health assessments by date, session by session.

The Tridiuum behavioral health platform, Tridiuum1, is used to evaluate and inform therapeutic decisions made in real-time by providers as part of the clinical process. It all starts with the provider-facing screen of Tridiuum’s web-based platform. The company calls it “The Clinical Home.” It features graphics and metrics that track the episodic progress of each patient over the duration of treatment, whether it starts in primary care or in the psychologist’s office and continues through in-person therapy or via video as telebehavioral therapy. The Clinical Home maintains a patient’s psychological history; notes about medications they’re on and the regularity taken at prescribed doses; alcohol or substance use data; and information on other factors.

Tridiuum’s Behavioral Health Index (BHI) is a key driver of treatment. When patients first complete the web-based assessment before their initial treatment session, their cumulative responses about the nature and severity of their condition, substance use and other behaviors are analyzed. The algorithms in Tridiuum's platform generates an Expected Treatment Response (ETR) curve that predicts how well a patient will do in behavioral health treatment over the course of care. The BHI is plotted against the ETR at each subsequent appointment, allowing providers to objectively determine if treatment is progressing well. A decreasing BHI score indicates lessening symptom severity and that the treatment is working. A rising BHI score indicates worsening symptoms and that a change in treatment program is warranted.

“One of Tridiuum's clients, a Boston-based health system, was facing challenges in managing and tracking its behavioral health population of 35,000 patients. The health system selected the Tridiuum platform to overcome that. Today, the health system is fully managing and tracking the success of its behavioral health treatment programs and is well on the way to bringing the total medical cost of that care in line with the rest of its patient populations.
